I'm obsessed with Charley Harper and his "minimal realism", and am very pleased to have such an easy way to explore these lines and deceptively simple shapes. His obvious mastery of realism is even more apparent when you try to reproduce even the simplest of birds! You may capture the shapes and proportions, but the charm and whimsy are much more elusive. All ages can appreciate the difference between basic graphic design and true artistry. I plan to utilize this book for teaching toddlers and practicing my own critical eye. The quality of the paper is very nice, as is the case with every licensed Harper item I've purchased: the Pomegranate calendars and jigsaw puzzles especially. I plan to research each bird and attempt to render them accurately with my Prismacolor colored pencils and watercolors. Printed on only one side! Hooray!

I actually bought this coloring book not for my children, but for me and my husband. We are big Charley Harper fans, and I thought it would be fun for us to sit together and color when the kids are in bed (maybe make it a date? gotta be creative with small kids and a limited budget for going out and babysitters). I love that they have perforated each page so you can easily tear it out to color it or display it. I think my 2 year old son is jealous he doesn't get to color in this book!

Drawings were perfect for a child to color in. Nothing negative. My granddaughter loved it.

This is a lovely coloring book. I'm an adult and a fan of Charley Harper and this is a nice way to "play" with his images. My only complaint -- the paper is thin, so if you use markers or paint -- the kinds of things that give you the rich color his images call out for -- you will get bleeding onto the next page. Easily fixed with an insert... that's my only quibble. Otherwise, very nice and much better than most coloring books if you're looking for a something for a child.

I bought this as a gift, and after leafing through it, I am having a really hard time wrapping it up and shipping it off. The drawings are just beautiful and I want to sit down with my Prismacolors and color every page- and I'm almost 30!
